Eleanor Spring

I am a PhD candidate in astronomy, an experienced yoga teacher and a science communication freelancer, born in London and happily settling into life in Amsterdam. My unusual medley of professions came about thanks to my decision one year into my degree to change my major from geology to astrophysics.

The transition between degree programs was a tough process, and I ultimately took a year of part time study to get up to speed. I suddenly had a year where I only needed to take a couple of courses, which left me with a lot of spare time on my hands. I decided to take my first yoga teacher training. I qualified in 2014 and have been teaching yoga ever since. I completed a science communication internship in the summer of 2016 that started the track which led me to freelancing as a science communicator from 2018. I moved to Amsterdam in 2017 for a job as a PhD candidate at the Universiteit van Amsterdam.

Spring to Mind originally started out as Spring Yoga. I set the business up to allow me to work as a yoga teacher in Amsterdam. I then began work as a science communication freelancer, and I added the trade name SciResolution. I then decided to unite all these roles under one name, and Spring to Mind was born.I run Spring to Mind alongside my PhD. I feel very privileged that I get to indulge all my passions ― science, communication, teaching, art and yoga ― in a professional capacity.
